Job Description

Role Objective:

  • The main purpose of this position is to actively contribute to the successful achievement of Restaurants’ goals of High Standard Quality customer service.
  • To provide superior customer service and maximize revenue.
  • To help build business and develop repeat diners, especially from the local community and making the restaurant a first for a dining experience in the local area ensuring facilities are maintained to the standard required.

Detailed Roles and Responsibilities:-Financial:• Work with team members within the restaurant in order to maximize sales and guest satisfaction and to ensure smooth operations• Identify and act on upselling opportunities to enhance average sales• Actively use up selling techniques to exceed guest expectations and increase revenue• Take guest orders and recommends food and beverage items, and special promotions if available• Process ordered items into restaurant’s register system accurately and efficiently• Ensure to enter the special requirements made by the guest while ordering the food• Be familiar with the ‘specials’ and drinks on the menu of season and provides assistance by providing information about the items• Ensure that continued service is managed during the course of the meal• Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs• Successfully complete the selling process according to the related packaging/service standards, follows the appropriate payment process, ensuring the guest satisfaction• Ensure proper handling of equipment; prevent loss and breakage of assets and goods• Ensure minimum wastage and spoilage through proper delivery of food items to guests from the kitchen-Customer:• Accompany guests to their tables and seats, taking in to account any table reservations• Follow the correct service procedures conducting an efficient and courteous service to the guests• Greet and effectively communicate the restaurant’s philosophy and products to guests• Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request• Be well versed with the menu and explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods• Initiate conversation to understand guest’s needs and requirements• Aid guests with any queries they may have surrounding the foods or drinks items on the menu, providing suitable alternatives if not available• Coordinate with the kitchen staff, bar staff to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction• Sharing information with guests about the status of their orders• Keep a constant eye on the table to gauge needs to refill them immediately throughout the meal or if there is requirements for any additional items, but also to ensure that all guests are satisfied with their order• Manage multiple tables simultaneously, and coordinate with team members to devote adequate attention to all guests• Deal with guests complaints and acts on issues and concerns in his/her field of activity immediately as per company policies, reports action to the Head Waiter and maintains an excellent reputation in the eyes of the public and guests• Maintain impeccable personal presentation at all times to reflect the Company culture-Internal Business Processes:• Process sales and payments on the POS system efficiently and accurately and close transactions courteously• Request appropriate guest details to feed into the guest database required for sending through brand promotions, or receiving customer feedback• Maintain knowledge of special, top and low-selling dishes and drinks providing relevant feedback to management• Maintain proper condition and cleanliness of dining areas and servicing equipment, ensuring visual aesthetics of the Restaurant are always reflective of the brand• Write guests food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff accurately and in a timely manner• Ensure order quality and quantity prior to serving to avoid any complications or dissatisfaction from guests• Clear dishes and glasses from tables or counters for cleaning after guests have finished their meals• Ensure stock levels for service such as tableware, cutlery and linens are always adequate,highlighting to management if not• Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, but also safety of guests, reporting any accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to Supervisor or RM• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, supporting the team to reach common goals• Makes sure that the product counters and storage area is well organized following relevant Company procedures• Control the operational temperatures of the product counters/fridges periodically and inform the supervisor accordingly• Ensure station and table set-ups are complete ready for guests• During the set-up of the restaurant, check the cleaning and the quality of all equipment, glassware, cutlery, chinaware, napkins etc.• At the end of the shift or the day, communicate relevant information for the team scheduled for the next shift to ensure seamless operations• Responsible for maintaining hygiene and cleanliness standards in the restaurant and upkeep of all service equipment• Ensuring that guests orders are assembled properly in the kitchen• Delivering orders to guests in a courteous and professional manner• Observing the principles of safe food handling and service at all times-Learning and Growth:• Remain knowledgeable of all dishes and drinks on the menu• Maintain an interest in food and beverage• Establish areas of self development through feedback from guest and colleagues• Provide recommendations to enhance restaurants operations and team productivity
