Job Purpose: The Training Specialist will manage, design and implement security training programmes/projects to ensure courses are consistently aligned to Group Security and Corporate objectives, as well as ensuring they are in full compliance with relevant legislation. They will manage and support a team of Part Time Trainers (PTTs) to ensure effective delivery of training and projects to internal customers and third parties. – Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and liaise with business areas to review existing course syllabi and/or develop project scope and related syllabi to continue to meet the learner needs, aligned with Group Security objectives, and identify short and long term future requirements. – Responsible for the instructional design and implementation of security training programmes for Cabin Crew, Flight Deck and/or Ground Staff and third parties as appropriate to ensure compliance with national and international regulations and to deliver, as the lead trainer for the module/course/project, a range of training courses to a multicultural audience. Identify delivery platform options to maximize a learner centred approach and to minimize operational impact. – Provide monthly reporting to Training Manager-Security (TM-Sec) and other relevant stakeholders and liaise with them regarding training/project portfolio. Ensure all required licensing and supporting documentation is completed and processed. Provide feedback to TM-Sec on post course evaluation and details of resulting enhancements/amendments to be made to the module/course. – Review, design and deliver security course material with a view to obtaining accreditation from an internationally recognized establishment. Design, implement and evaluate written and/or computer based examinations and practical exercises in relation to Security in order to assess learner ability and knowledge. Maintain and encourage a culture of continuous improvement through on-going evaluation of course design and delivery. – Support TM-Sec in preparing annual budgetary submissions through advice on resources requirements, infrastructure needs and budget requirements for area of responsibility. Monitor on an on-going basis training costs to ensure they remain within the approved budget. Ensure that all resources and training aids such as classrooms, projectors, computers, flipcharts, lesson plans etc. are up to date, available and in working order for each training session. – Liaise with other stakeholder training and development units to identify possible areas for training business process improvement and to assist in defining requirements, testing and implementation of resulting systems and processes. – Maintain continued professional development by updating knowledge and skills in relevant area of expertise and responsibility and across the Airline industry. Put this knowledge and skills in to practice and disseminate to colleagues and trainees. – Manage training projects to meet specified quality criteria, on time and within budget, reporting on effectiveness of project deliverables to TM-Sec. Lead the project team and assess performance against productivity and performance measures in order to provide feedback to individuals and line managers. – Guide Training Officers (TOs) in compiling end of course confidential report for trainees, remaining accountable for overall accuracy and quality of the report. Plan and monitor TOs and PTT monthly rosters, in conjunction with TM-Sec, as well as subsequent changes to effectively meet approved manpower requirements by being involved in the selection process of the PTTs to maximize productivity. – Provide leadership and direction to a core team of PTTs, and indirectly TOs, through evaluation, coaching and continuous assessment. Identify individual development needs and ensure development plans are progressed. Conduct bi-annual performance reviews along with regular evaluations in alignment with Group Security management objectives and Corporate Performance Management standards to ensure training best practices are being employed.
Qualifications & Experience: – Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) – Relevant Aviation Security Qualification; ICAO AVSEC PM Experience/Knowledge/skills: – In a Trainer role for a minimum of 5 years – Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and able to use Multimedia as a training tool – Project management skills – Knowledge of writing comprehensive reports and gathering and analyzing data (preferred) – Knowledge of the following courses (preferred): Explosives & Improvised Explosives Devices (IED), Weapons Identification, Anti-Terrorism Techniques, Passenger Restraint Techniques
