About the Opportunity
As the Systems Administrator you will be responsible for assisting in the installation and configuration, operation, and maintenance of computing, messaging systems and infrastructure in project and support teams.
You will deploy engineering systems updates from vendor, raise issues with vendors, provide user support and monitor application performance.
The IM&T and the wider team will be operating as ‘One Team’ across multiple sites and time zones, you will be expected to adopt a ‘Smart Working’ approach by being flexible in their start and finish times to maintain a work life balance.
Frequent early morning meetings and evening meetings will be required to ensure we are aligned.
In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:
Configure the engineering systems to support business requirements
Develop and document processes and procedures in conjunction with the end users to maximize the benefit from the Engineering tools
Perform script development and work closely with Business Analysts to develop solutions
Create training course materials and training delivery
Assist with the definition of engineering software enhancement requirement
Perform user access management
Assess new versions of the engineering software from the supplier for benefits to the business
Provide input to decision on whether to adopt new versions of the software
Create and execute test plans for new software versions
Liaise with the UK based teams who support the Engineering tools to receive and provide input on the management and configuration of the software
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you’ll have:
Good problem solving skills to identify root cause of issues and develop resolution to software issues
Significant experience in supporting engineering systems, in particular 3D CAD systems, on large engineering projects
Large, complex software system management
Engineering System Database management, preferably Oracle
The ability to develop scripts, including SQL and a dynamic programming language such as Perl
Experience in working within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Whilst not essential, a diploma or degree in information technology or engineering will be an advantage.
