GIS (Geographic Information Systems) analysts work at the intersection of data analysis, programming and cartography. Their primary duties include analyzing spatial data through mapping software and designing digital maps with geographic data and various other data sets for the sake of growing the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyzing spatial data through the use of mapping software
Designing digital maps with geographic data and other data sources
Creating “shapefiles” to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical map
Producing maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data needed
Developing mapping applications and tools
Performing data munging and cleaning to convert data into its desired form
Produce reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations
Managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types
Ensures alignment of data with company standards
Monitors and applies the best industry practices
Maintains data integrity and accuracy
Assigns addresses for new expansion projects and perform field verifications of existing addresses
Guide the expansion team on best geographical locations through continuous meeting and analysis
Guide and support the Logistics Growth Manager and Operations teams to ensure that we are reaching the maximum efficiency through redefining and redesigning the Stores’ coverage areas and existing locations
Job Specifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in GIS Analysis, Environmental Science, or related field
Experience 2-3 years and above in a similar field.
Proficiency with ArcGIS or any other similar software
Experience scripting languages (preferred python)
Ability to effectively configure and interpret data to business needs and insights
Detail-oriented and analytical thinker
Experience with various technology methodologies and applications
Excellent communication and analytical skills
