Team Profile

The Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Engineering group in the Core Infrastructure division at Morgan Stanley is responsible for designing and implementing the firms huge scale global Linux and Virtualization infrastructure. The group is involved in evaluation, certification, integration, and maintenance of numerous products, including hardware, hypervisor platform, the Linux OS platform, system configuration, critical infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, etc.), high availability products and virtualisation technologies.

Role Profile

We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead a small, distributed team focused specifically on the Linux server infrastructure which supports our low-latency trading business. The role requires deep Linux systems knowledge in architecture, certifying and deploying new solutions for the business, and the ability to troubleshoot down to the lowest technical levels in a high-pressure, revenue-generating context. Developing the technical and non-technical skills of other engineers you will manage is also a key part of the role, as is potentially growing the team further subject to demand.

Role Responsibilities

We are looking for a senior Linux System Administrator with Perl or Python coding experience.

You will be writing secure, testable, robust code.

You will be joining a global team of accomplished engineers, developers, and operations specialists.

You will be expected to collaborate with a global team to accomplish deliverables.

You will be responsible to participate in open forums with your global team to discuss projects.

You will directly manage and develop the skills of a small team of engineers.#LI-PW1


Skills Required

Deep enterprise level experience in managing a distributed computing environment

Expert knowledge of Linux, including familiarity with UNIX system calls, and low-level O/S, storage and networking protocols.

Solid understand of Linux Kernel.

Effective troubleshooting skills across hardware, O/S, network, and storage.

Proficient in at least one scripting language such as Bash, Perl, or Python and shell scripting.

Experience with at least one source code management tool: Git, SVN, Perforce etc.

Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills in a highly visible, fast paced enterprise environment.

An understanding of SDLC and Change Management practices

Ability to work with a global team.

Effective communication skills to a diverse audience

Ability to write technical documentation and teach team members.

Skills Desired

Solid understand of Linux Kernel

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server Certification

Experience with high-performance network devices (Solarflare, Mellanox, Exablaze)

Experience with kernel bypass, FPGA, or another novel high-performance specialty
