THE POST – School Facilities and Maintenance Officer, United Arab Emirates – Abu Dhabi
●Maintain the school building to its best possible condition with regards to health, safety, security, and cleanliness;
●Provide leadership to the facilities, maintenance, cleaning, and other contracted teams, ensuring that all tasks are carried out with the highest level of professionalism;
●Develop and maintain effective partnerships and engage in positive communication with all staff and senior leaders;
●Adhere to the school’s policies and procedures, ensuring all supervised staff do as well;
●Uphold and promote the school’s vision, mission, and values.
Qualifications / Person Specification
Competencies and Attributes:
●A strong knowledge base of health and safety procedures coupled with knowledge of electromechanical systems and the ability to carry out regular maintenance works in conjunction with the school’s needs;
●Working knowledge of maintenance skills e.g. electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.;
●The ability to explain issues and requirements to the school’s senior leadership team;
●Well organized and good at making decisions so that work plans and schedules reflect the needs of the school;
●Ability to manage and distribute resources effectively;
●Knowledge of security and cleaning practices with effective management of contractors;
●The ability to manage individual staff members and groups of contracted staff members;
●Excellent communication skills – written and oral form;
●Proficient in Google Apps packages such as Docs, Gmail, and Sheets;
●Attention to detail and an ability to problem-solve;
●Experience of working within or with a school/educational setting preferred;
●Good sense of humor.
Education & Qualification:
●A minimum of high school leaving certificates and a recognized industry qualification or experience equivalence.
●Excellent knowledge of safety and security, with experience of safeguarding with contractors and school support staff;
●A suitable candidate will have more than two years’ experience in a similar role, specifically focused on facilities management within a school or similar role.
