The Global Practice Lead for Globalisation, Trade and Finance will lead a team of best in class researchers to deliver bespoke research and analysis to meet client objectives. Your focus will be two-fold: driving growth of the practice, measured both in terms of revenue and acquisition of new clients, and driving intellectual leadership and excellence in our approach to client challenges. You will also work closely with Regional Leads across the globe to ensure efficient and effective project and team management. Accountabilities

How you will contribute:

Develop and implement a commercial strategy for the practice, working in close collaboration with regional commercial directors and regional leads to define areas of greatest opportunity and an effective go-to-market approach

Drive business development for the practice, actively guiding, shaping and helping to execute on opportunities, and coordinating with other Economist Group businesses

Serve as a senior client contact for key global accounts – use position to renew and grow these accounts, deepening the relationships with clients; build and maintain relationships with key clients to ensure business is renewed and expanded

Serve as a public face of the practice, working with the marketing team to build its profile among key audiences

Provide intellectual leadership to the global team, demonstrating in your own work and behaviour a commitment to excellence, rigor, and creativity

Ensure the practice is continuously interrogating its own methodologies and approaches, while tracking external developments and innovations to stay current


Build a team culture centered on intellectual ambition, collaboration, and integrity

Hold primary responsibility for quality assurance for work delivered by the global practice

Collaborate with regional leads to ensure effective resource assignments for both business development and project delivery, ensuring appropriate staffing that is organized and tracked through our project management software

Manage performance and professional development, in coordination with regional leads

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The ideal skills of the role include:

Advanced degree in Economics is preferred

Strong management experience and proven ability to motivate and lead a team

Excellent stakeholder-management skills

Strong project management experience

Experience with business development

Expert knowledge of research methodologies

Excellent written and verbal communications skills, experience presenting to senior audiences

Client-facing experience with policymakers and/or corporate executives
