The role is responsible for the delivery of an efficient, accurate and professional media service. Workflows include functions such as file ingest, quality check and file delivery. Day to day duties will focus on ensuring that all media are processed accurately and delivered by the deadline according to client requirements.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Research and retrieve information in the Alaraby resource library in response to requests from news or editorial staff using your knowledge of our classification system/database

To monitor automated workflows using MAM platform, intervening as required for manual processes and dealing with exceptions requiring manual handling/processing

Ensure maintenance of online storage and maintain regular housekeeping of all relevant systems, according to current standard operating procedures

Monitor drive storage capacity and use to keep them within reasonable limits

Manage database information, assign classification terms to news articles and programming, input new information, and research information from our database

Perform emergency restoration procedures for the broadcast media facilities and support the operations team during an emergency

Escalate technical issues to relevant support units as well as to external providers

Help source appropriate material for news departments

Procure, ingest, add metadata to, and archive news footage

Participate in archive and library projects

Support the Scheduling team by ensuring programming media are available for transmission

A good understanding of IT networking infrastructures, file-based technologies and their implementation in a broadcast environment is required.

Team leading approach and skills. Positive attitude, flexibility and excellent relationships with colleagues at all levels focusing on teamwork. Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence with others.

Effectively plan, prioritise and coordinate the activities. Train and mentor fellow colleagues.

Proficiency in maintaining workflow documentation.

Ability to work under pressure in a live news environment and available to work on-call as needed, including evenings, overnights and weekends.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or relevant practical experience

Comprehensive understanding of a live 24-hour broadcast environment

Understanding of Broadcast media server workflows – Ingest – Transcoding – Video Compression

Computer skills, particularly in using databases

3 years experience in relevant field

English Language, excellent verbal and written skills in Arabic is desirable
