Wood is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to strengthen our team in Dubai.
This is a Home Office position based in Dubai, but it may involve occasional visits to the Client offices and/or site in Iraq. Normal working time will be 48 hours per week (9.6 hours per day).
Contributing to delivery of Engineering excellence through:
Executing assigned scopes of work.
Supporting and supervising task delegation to team.
Providing discipline support to the business.
Coaching and mentoring as delegated.
Develop training program for graduates.
Provide technical presentations (lunch & learn) sessions to co-workers on knowledge sharing basis. Deputising for Lead as required. Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to direct reports. Executing assigned personal objectives. Management of third-party suppliers in the execution of Engineering delivery. Carry out survey and answer site queries. Review and check the work of design team. Ensure work is completed on Schedule and within budget.
Assist in the preparation of CTR’s and man-hour estimates. Attend meetings as and when required. Assist procurement and project engineering personnel in the procurement of equipment and materials.
Liaise with other disciplines on design, construction, fabrication and commissioning issues.
Demonstrate understanding of and work to discipline specific procedures

Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
Provide discipline support to the business.
Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promote to direct reports.
Provide discipline input to scope definition and execution. Skills / Qualifications
BSc / BEng in Mechanical
Engineering or equivalent professional qualification with extensive relevant experience.
Membership of a recognised professional institute is preferred
15+ years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry
Minimum of 5 years proven capability as a Lead Engineer in an engineering design company.
At least 12 months experience of site-based project work involving field engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, or maintenance.
Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the engineering design and analysis. Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards. Experience in brownfield jobs and FEED jobs Experience in EPC and PMC jobs. Worked in a PMC role earlier. Experience in Vendor package management
Experience ofthe application of HAZOP, HAZID and e-HAZOP to design.
Experience withdesign for prefabricated modular packaged equipment. Previous experience of working in the Middle East/Iraq would be an advantage. Intellectually capable, can substantiate the ability to apply theory in a practical context. Familiar with the use of industry standards and codes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good Oral and Communication skills.
Must havegood interpersonal skills/team player. Proficient in the use of PVElite, AutoCAD and MS-OFFICE
Able todemonstrate team working skills. Flexible with a can-do attitude.
Able to travel to Basra, Iraq as required.
