The Role Responsibilities The Group Transformation Office (GTO) drives and executes the overall strategic transformation agenda. Within GTO, the Design Thinking team exists to complement the Delivery and Operational Excellence transformation, ensuring we are solving the right problems, the right way. Design Thinking can mean many things. To us, it means connecting the practices across multiple design domains, including research and insights, UI/UX, service & customer experience design plus the ability to rapidly prototype and test with customers, to embed these capabilities in the way we run our core businesses. The newly created GTO Design Thinking team will create the environment to integrate Design Thinking in the way the bank works, through building awareness, strategy, standards, design ops and the uplift of design culture and capabilities across the bank. As a member of our diverse Design Thinking transformation team, you will be a force for connecting Design to business impact. You will bring your mastery to create the space for design and shape the way we build Design models, principles and standards. You will collaborate with a community of designers and practitioners from across the bank, enabling independent teams to transform the way they understand customers (internal and external), ideate, validate and prioritise solutions.
We are looking for a Head of UI/UX, reporting to the Head of Design Thinking, to work with our Heads of Experience Design, Research & Insights and Culture. This team will lead and grow the bank’s design practice via the influence of stakeholders, peers, and independent teams.
Strategy

The Head of UI/UX will collaborate with the Head of Experience Design and Head of Research & Insights to embed and improve the practice of design across the organisation.

Business

Help Leaders to understand the business value of improving UI/UX.

Processes

Collaboratively define operations to support UI/UX practice, including tools and processes.

People & Talent

Develop mastery for UI/UX across the organisation.
Collaboratively develop the design culture across the organisation.

Governance

Set and enforce standards for the practice of UI/UX design across the organisation.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
Lead the UI/ UX practice for the bank to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles. Fair Outcomes for Clients, Effective Financial Markets, Financial Crime Compliance, The Right Environment.
Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate

Demonstrated track record of leading a UI/UX department that delivers great experiences.
Demonstrated track record of influencing and shaping the understanding and adoption of Design in organisation(s).
Demonstrated track record of operationalising and scaling a Design / UX practice.
Thought leadership on the role of UI/UX design, especially as it relates to topics such as sustainability and ethical business.
Ability to influence peers across the organisation to drive consistency of practice.
Ability and desire to raise the bar of design, through influence and role-modelling.
A passion for driving culture and mindset change.
A passion for facilitating/ coaching teams and leaders in understanding and using Design methodologies.
Enjoy collaborating with others in a diverse multi-cultural environment.
Curious and open-minded, with a passion for continuous learning.
