Your Role

The Director for Strategy is responsible to develop compelling go-to-market strategies under consideration of global market trends, competitive development and key customer needs. In close collaboration with the technical team, the local sales teams and the product line management team, this role correlates relevant information and provides direction to the leadership team for strategic decisions. An important aspect of the tasks in this role is the enablement and sales support with relevant and pointed market and technology information to drive thought leadership internally and externally with our customers and the industry.

Responsibilities

Develop regional positioning and market penetration strategies in-line with corporate strategy

Help to define the target customer, differentiated value propositions, and competitive analysis

Speak at conferences, customer and online events

Drive market development through thought leadership initiatives

Together with the corporate intelligence team, conduct market research to understand the CSP and end users demand and the addressable market size, and competitors’ white space.

Gather market insights (technology trends, customer strategies)

Develop go-to-market strategies for new solutions, geos or major accounts (together with the sales teams)

Translate corporate strategy to regional strategy and activities

Provide regional perspective and spin on portfolio and product marketing activities

Sales enablement support

Key customer support

Requirements / Experience

Profound knowledge of telecoms and service provider market

Ability to map technical solutions to customer business problems and revenue streams

All-rounder in the technology industry (also periphery of telecoms market)

Technical credibility, understanding of the market

Able to clearly communicate Ciena vision

Masters in business or technology topic

10 years+ experience in telecoms

Significant experience working for/with key transport technology vendors (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia etc.), or working with their solutions

Challenger, innovator

Collaborative, Influential, opinionated, inclusive personality
