We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as the Zoo Education and Conservation Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs and conservation initiatives at a zoo or other animal-related organization. This may include designing educational materials, leading tours and workshops, managing educational staff and volunteers, and collaborating with researchers and other experts to develop and promote conservation efforts. You would also be responsible for coordinating public relations and outreach efforts to promote the organization and its mission. To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in education and experience working with animals.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement educational programs for visitors, including tours, workshops, and lectures
Collaborate with other departments to create interactive exhibits and displays
Coordinate with conservation organizations to support conservation efforts and initiatives
Manage budgets and resources for education and conservation programs
Develop and maintain partnerships with schools and other community organizations
Supervise education and conservation staff and volunteers
Maintain accurate records and documentation for education and conservation programs
Advocate for conservation and animal welfare issues
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, biology, zoology or a related field
3+ years of experience in education and/or conservation, preferably in a zoo setting
Strong understanding of conservation principles and a passion for educating the public about wildlife and their habitats
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Ability to work well in a team
