The ideal candidate should have a minimum of eight years of experience as a licensed attorney with a proven record in complex financial transactions. The position calls for an attorney with demonstrated skills in transactional matters specific to the Banking & Finance practice, who is comfortable working across various types of cases ranging from high-value transactions to routine documentation. He or she must be able to represent both lenders and borrowers in connection with the negotiation of secured and unsecured syndicated credit facilities, asset-based loans, and acquisition financings. Prior experience at an international law firm is preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree or LL.M. in law.
· Advise on a wide range of legal matters to banking and finance clients.
· Drafting and negotiating loan documentation with lenders or borrowers.
· Reviewing loan documentation for compliance with applicable laws.
· Advising on regulatory requirements – Advising on the sale or purchase of loans or other assets.
· Advising on mergers and acquisitions transactions involving banks or other financial institutions.
· Providing advice on cross border transactions involving banks or other financial institutions in UAE, GCC and internationally.
· Advises clients on matters of standard procedures and guidelines, with minimal or no supervision.
· Excellent understanding of corporate and contract law, including knowledge of the various security regimes, financial services and banking laws; is aware of all core legal developments.
· Demonstrates awareness of the Firm’s practice areas and business development strategy, and takes opportunities to cross-sell.
· A writing assistant can also be used for providing advice on corporate governance by generating research reports that are ideal for sharing with the board of directors.
· A writing assistant can be used to generate reports that are valuable for all stakeholders, such as customers and investors, which helps them understand how making changes to governance affects their own interests.
· Proactive engagement with clients both on and off deal with a view towards building and maintaining strong client relationships.
